What's the difference between Base and Pro?
Base gives you everything you need to run payroll confidently on your own — automated payroll, single-state tax filing, direct deposit, phone and chat support, and Mineral Basic for HR compliance. Pro adds multi-state tax filing, Time & Attendance, and Mineral Essentials — which includes a full compliance course catalog, multi-state handbooks, and on-demand access to certified HR experts.
How is pricing calculated?
Plans are priced as a monthly base fee plus a per-employee-per-month (PEPM) rate. Base is $55/month + $5 PEPM. Pro is $85/month + $6 PEPM. W-2s and 1099s are charged per form.
Is there a long-term contract?
No. There are no long-term contracts. A 60-day cancellation notice applies. We'd rather earn your business every month than lock you in.
Is phone support really included?
Yes — U.S.-based phone support is included in both Base and Pro. You shouldn't have to fight a chatbot to get a straight answer. Priority and Dedicated support are available as add-ons if you want even faster service.
What is Mineral and what does it do for me?
Mineral is an HR compliance platform that monitors federal and state employment law and delivers real-time alerts when something changes that affects your business. Base includes Mineral Basic — law alerts, HR document templates, federal and single-state handbooks, and a basic LMS.
